Nursery Admissions

At Rivelin Nursery children settle quickly and happily, and their independence is promoted well through the self-registration process. Teaching in the early years is good. As a result, children make good progress and are well prepared for their learning in Year 1. Ofsted 2015

We currently have 3 intakes, September, January and April. Children can start at our Nursery from the term after their 3rd birthday or if they are entitled to the Free 2yr Old Childcare we may be able to accommodate the term of their 3rd birthday, subject to numbers.

What happens before your child starts Nursery

The term before your child is due to start Nursery we will contact you regarding some key transition events to help prepare you and your child for starting Nursery, these include:

  • Stay & Play Sessions
  • Home Visits
  • Start Dates

At the Stay & Play sessions you and your child will have the opportunity to experience the Nursery environment and ask questions, we will also offer you a home visit at the beginning of the term your child will join Nursery, this is a great way for the Nursery Teacher to meet you and your child in an environment that is familiar to the child, we find this really helps with the transition into Nursery.

Starting Nursery

All new children will be start after home visits are completed. Each child will be given an individual start date. This allows us to ensure that we can support all of the children as they take this exciting step.  Parents will also be sent an admissions form and if their child is starting the term after their 3rd birthday a Free Early Years Funding Form, these will need to be completed and returned to school along with a copy of your child's birth certificate prior to your child starting at Nursery. Please note we will not be able to start children unless all paperwork has been received.
